Why Drake & Justin Timberlake Love Memphis: Inside Its Bold New Renaissance- Marcella mentioned in Billboard.com article by Bob Mehr

"Situated in Midtown’s thriving Cooper Young neighborhood, DKDC bills itself as a rum bar, specializing in exotic cocktails and a variety of South American street food. Best of Music Fest

Bob Mehr, Commerical Appeal, USA TODAY: "Another local standout was Marcella & Her Lovers, who won over a lot of fans with their set to kick things off Sunday. Having the boost of a horn section – led by Jim Spake and Art Edmaiston – really added to the overall presentation and sound. And Simien is just one of those artists whose music and easy manner seem naturally suited to the festival environment, which is about engaging people who are probably seeing you for the first time."

Strong female voices, continued good weather keep the Beale Street Music Festival buzzing on final day

"Memphis-based Marcella and Her Lovers – led by Louisiana native Marcella Simien – started the day off on the Bud Light Stage. Supported by an expanded version of her group (which included a horn section) Simien stirred up a gumbo of Crescent City pop and Memphis soul. A natural born performer – her father is Grammy winning Zydeco artist Terrence Simien – she proved an ideal festival act, engaging an audience (most seeing her for the first time), that seemed to have been converted to fans by set’s end. "- Bob Mehr  Read the full article here
